Resume
Our fears have been realized and jobs are being lost and not created(except for the Federal Government which claims would be creating jobs), the rest the thousands of job hunters who cannot get a job are left out on a limb. Try to use the full spectrum of job searching, online, social networks, job hunt networks and don;t forget the traditional go out an get it approach.
Jobs are out there, just that you cannot be to picky due to the scarcity, for one opening has several hundred available applicants. Make yourself stand out from the rest and use your failures as motivating factor. Update your resume and take out all add-on’s(entries that have been quite blown up), so you get an honest resume they can trust. Some of these firms really do check ups so when they do, you get the facts nothing more nothing less. You might also want to change the photo(you might still have the one straight from graduation), they might be small changes but they make big changes.

“Well just call you.” That’s the statement that replays over and over in our minds when the employer doesn’t want to hire us. It’s sad but true. Not all people have the equal luck to get hired easily. We must not feel down about it if we got rejected. Don’t discourage yourself if you don’t get hired on the job you’re applying for. Always think positive. As the Law of Attraction states, “Positive thoughts attract positive things and negative thoughts attract negative things.” There is still an option for you, to look for another job. As if that there isn’t even at least one job that is specifically and rightfully meant for you and your profession. What if the job description written doesn’t match your specialization? I think that it’s best for you to still take on the job even if it’s out of your league. Don’t be afraid to step your comfort zone.

One of the most important factors in job hunting is location. May it be a new job or a career change, it is better to determine how accessible your next workplace will be. Studying about locations and the rate of employment in a particular area offers helpful insights to job seekers. It tells about the cost of living, the salary range, the work habits of people, the tax rates, the employees benefits and a lot more.

Ive read an article from Yahoo! Hot Jobs that discusses the top 10 cities for employment in the country based on a Forbes 2007 survey. Here, Im sharing the list with you:

1. The Florida Cluster

4. Washington, D.C.
5. Salt Lake City, Utah
6. Honolulu, Hawaii
7. Las Vegas, Nevada

You may not have liked your boss before, and then you decided to resign (or he fired you). Now, the interviewer in front of you asking the question regarding how you left your previous company. What do you say?

  • Never bad-mouth your previous employer. To the interviewer, it looks as though you’re unprofessional and have a bad attitude towards work. Instead, calmly tell them that you have decided to move on despite the challenges you experienced with your previous employer and what you garnered from the experience.
  • Don’t act like a victim, be a survivor. Being downsized and fired is an unpleasant fact. Accept the situation for what it is rather than vent it all on the interviewer. It shows that you have the capability to adapt quickly to any situation.
  • Never burn bridges with your former employer, your experience with them will help you in getting the next better job.

Accessing job sites while at work can be a stressful thing to do, yet a lot of people do it. You and even your boss does it, so don’t feel too guilty. However, we suggest that you pick your time carefully just to be sure that you still have a lot of time to do your work and that no one can see you.

When the Recruitment Manager calls, we suggest you reschedule. So you send in that resume and then a call goes through: it’s the company you’re applying for! Instead of whispering during your phone interview, we suggest that you reschedule it during lunchtime or after working hours.

    Timing is everything.
