There are workers who are humble while there are those who are annoyingly boastful. There are also those who know when to get people’s attention in the right place, at the right time and with a proper circumstance.
Self-promotion and bragging are two different sides of the coin. While the former plants the seeds of discontent and over confidence, the latter promotes oneself as a way of seeking success.
Bragging is when you make exaggerations about your output as a way to get noticed by the head honchos. Self-promotion is when you praise your fellow worker’s progress and update your boss of your accomplishment in a professional way.
